Cairo Castle, Taiz

(4.3/5 based on 10 reviews on the web)
An 11th-century World Heritage Site, Cairo Castle has had great historical and strategic significance. Originally the residence of the ruler, the defense fortress perches on the highest point over the city of Taiz. Airstrikes in 2015 destroyed up to 30 percent of the castle, once a favorite with visitors who came to tour and watch the sunset. From its significant vantage point you can see Taiz, numerous mosques, and the mountains beyond. Make Cairo Castle part of your personalized Taiz itinerary using our Taiz family vacation planner.

  • Saber mountain and Alkahira castle are the most visited attractions in Taiz city. The castle was built for military purposes 100s of years ago it remains a living attraction.
  • I went to this place more than once, it is awesome in every sense of the word that contains the place also on the tomb of Rabbi alshabzi and that many people are reluctant to visit, requires this old castle town of Taiz. Can't go to Taiz without visiting this place
