Long Tan Cross, Vung Tau

4.7
Learn about the Battle of Long Tan from the Vietnam War by visiting Long Tan Cross. The confrontation happened between the 6 Royal Australian Regiment and Vietnamese communist troops. Visit the site that commemorates the Australian victory and its loss at the same time. Listen to the stories and the memories surrounding the memorial, and leave some flowers to pay respects to the fallen soldiers. Consider hiring a guide, since it can be tricky to find the site. It's the second important historical memorial about the wars in Vietnam, next to Dien Bien Phu. Many stories about the Australian Army force during Vietnam War were told here. Sometimes the visitors get the trouble with government people, but don't let this barries you plan to visit.

Where to stay in Vung Tau

Most of the accommodations of Vung Tau, you won't be surprised to learn, sit by the beaches. Choose from densely populated areas of budget-friendly hotels and guesthouses, as well as more spacious stretches where large resorts and luxury hotels sit. Search all around the peninsula for the style and price that suits, as nothing here is very far away from the main attraction. Even visitors that stay a bit inland may end up with a place to be proud of, with French colonial hotels set back from the sea.
