  • For all those who hustle and bustle of everyday life, it, want to leave in your home country or in the usual tourist places of Vietnam behind, I especially urge a stay in this Zen Monastery. Maybe mine some practical additions. The stay is free of charge. There are vegetarian food three times a day. On some websites about the temple, it is suggested that you call ahead must announce his stay. Unfortunately, no one on the phone has been with me. Anyway, I went out there and was allowed to remain. It was two days. After a few hours, the peaceful atmosphere had captured me. Twice a day is meditating each 1 1/2 hours (from 3:30 and 19:30). Like me, who is accustomed to the Japanese Zen, know that a walking meditation is done after about half an hour. That is not the case with the Vietnamese Zen. With practicing lay people can change accordingly in between the foot and leg position. Integrated seats is expected by the monks. Concentrated work (moderate activities such as cleaning, gardening, etc.) and study of Buddhist philosophy also belong to everyday life in the monastery. One should take care of temple dogs, which can be quite aggressive newcomers to. I've experienced that. Best you always go with at least a further residents together about the succeed. You will sleep in a room, which it shares with other lay people. You can make the arrival of Hanoi from bus (slightly cheaper version). Then the rest of the route of the motorway near the town of TAM DAO with a taxi to the monastery. After Hanoi I put back complete the return journey by taxi. Me has 700 000 VND / cost less than EUR 30. Then ask: do not forget to bring the usual hygiene products, toilet paper, own towel. It's not a hotel!
