Tram Ton Pass, Sapa

4.0
#27 of 68 in Things to do in Sapa
Follow a bright white line of a narrow winding road cut into the mountains at Tram Ton Pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. Enjoy a view of bamboo forests, terraced fields, blue-green valleys at this long passageway between outpost towns of Sapa and Lai Chau, dubbed the Gate of Heaven. Standing at 1,900 m (6,233 ft), this pass offers spectacular panoramas with often stark differences in weather, fog and sun, cold and warm air. Visit traditional villages with different ethnic groups, and check out some scenic waterfalls. There are numerous observation decks along the road. • If you visit Sapa or Dong Van, you must go here. The views of fold after fold of mountain are quite amazing, especially as the sun and clouds constantly change the view of the valley below.  more »
  • Today with the moped to the tram ton pass. It is not really so indicated on the outward journey along the highest point. By the way, is that not a disaster because the entire route is beautiful. Great view! On the return trip, however, stopped at the peak and enjoyed the view. In our opinion, a must to do. Be aware of that the vietnamesen use all the way (drive carefully!)
