Follow a bright white line of a narrow winding road cut into the mountains at Tram Ton Pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. Enjoy a view of bamboo forests, terraced fields, blue-green valleys at this long passageway between outpost towns of Sapa and Lai Chau, dubbed the Gate of Heaven. Standing at 1,900 m (6,233 ft), this pass offers spectacular panoramas with often stark differences in weather, fog and sun, cold and warm air.
