Follow a bright white line of a narrow winding road cut into the mountains at Tram Ton Pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. Enjoy a view of bamboo forests, terraced fields, blue-green valleys at this long passageway between outpost towns of Sapa and Lai Chau, dubbed the Gate of Heaven. Standing at 1,900 m (6,233 ft), this pass offers spectacular panoramas with often stark differences in weather, fog and sun, cold and warm air. Visit traditional villages with different ethnic groups, and check out some scenic waterfalls. There are numerous observation decks along the road.   • The long and winding road from Sapa to Tram Ton pass is very scenery to ride, but if you are blessed by clear skies (so we were), you can get stunning views from the pass towards the mountains. A less...  more »

  • Nice views, especially Love waterfall.
  • The fare on the port 70 k per person. Walk to the falls about 1 km, the most tired at going back out to climb many stairs. Quite tiring for those of average fitness.
