Van Long Nature Reserve, Ninh Binh

(4.5/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
An expansive wetland dotted with limestone pinnacles, Van Long Nature Reserve plays host to hundreds of species of migratory and endangered birds. Set across an area of 3,000 ha (7,413.2 ac), a rowing boat tour serves as the ideal way to discover this rich landscape, weaving your way between grasslands, rice paddies, and grotto-like caves. Keep your eyes peeled for the Delacour Langur--the reserve’s dense foliage is one of the last remaining habitats for this endangered primate. Pack your own lunch with plenty of water, and immerse yourself in this prehistoric environment. Keen bird-watchers should remember to bring a pair of binoculars to the reserve. Our Ninh Binh trip generator makes visiting Van Long Nature Reserve and other Ninh Binh attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • This place is a bit further away from Tam coc than the other boat tour places. Which makes it much better in my opinion since there won't be hundreds of tourists waiting in line to get into a boat. It...  more »

  • We are in what is called "land Halong Bay" and we understand why, by bicycle. Initially the Duke Hoang restaurant where we among other things, tasted goat meat dumplings that we have prepared, the journey is not very long and it is flat, so without difficulty. Here, we ride 2 by 2 in canoes where women always smiling, paddled with their feet. Which is surprising, even if we have already seen in stories. We operate in very quiet channels. On the banks, lush vegetation and pigs wandering. In water, water hyacinth, water lilies. It passes into dark tunnels under rocks with beautiful stalactites in the greatest calm, only the sound of the oars in the water accompanies the walk. To do with a "cone-shaped" hat, it's even better...
