Create an itinerary including Mua Caves
Though not a particularly notable site on its own, Mua Caves boast unobstructed views that many visitors seek. Next to the cave entrance, follow a 500-step staircase leading up the peak. Once you arrive at the top, you will see another cave complex as well as southern Vietnam's limestone mountain. Many visitors like to come here at sunrise or sunset, but you can climb up at any time of day. If you prefer to only see the cave, you may want to bring a flashlight, as it is small and dark. Using our international travel planner, Ninh Binh attractions like Mua Caves can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Wonderful place where you can easily spend half a day meandering around. There are tons of gardens, bridges and ponds to walk around, or if you prefer to sit and eat by while soaking in the serene landscape of the evergreen limestone mountains, there are restaurants and vendors scattered about. The man built staircase recessed in the face of the mountain conjures feels of ancient times. The to the point of the viewpoints, pagodas and other interesting statues highlight Vietnamese culture at its best. If you go by bike or motorbike you will need to pay a small fee of 5000 Dong to park and claim a ticket. Leaving you with a short walk before entering the gates of the park. 100,000 Dong will grant you access for the day if you wish.
  • One of the highlights on our tour. This place offers some of the best breathtaking views. It's about 30-45 minute walk/trek to the top and best to visit early mornings (opens at 6am) to both avoid the crowd and the mid day heat/sun. Bring enough water though, it might be just a 500 step climb but still the last leg would be a bit of a challenge.
  • Visit here for a breathtaking view of Ninh Binh from a high Vantage point. Entry fee 100,000d/person. Leading up to stairs, is a small area where they have put up swings, ponds etc which provide photo opportunity. There are 2 different Vantage points at the top, and it would be good to avoid the lower one and head only to the higher one. The higher covers the same view anyway. The high point is about 400 stairs, and if one decides to check out both, it is about 500+ in total. Opens 7AM to 5PM, the best time to visit is early morning yo avoid heat. Would take about 1.5 hours in total.
  • An interesting place with some places to look at and take pictures at the bottom, before starting the climb and climbing of about 500 high steps until reaching the dragon mountain top (the left hill). We came to the site around 17:00 with children, claimbed to the top until 18:00 and got back down from the mountain around 18:30 so we had a short time to watch the attractions there until the sunset at 19:00. This timing placed us in a bit of a tight schedule, but helped us to avoid the crazy hot weather. At the end of the tour a kiosk owner was "nice" and ordered us a taxi that charged us x2 more then the amount we paid for our way there.
  • Great place for amazing view points and picture spots ! Although, with 500 steps to climb you might be a bit shiny on your pics. There is a place to buy water on the way up, at about halfway, don't miss it if you need to drink. Otherwise bring at least one big bottle per person. If you're wondering, the climb is definitely worth the struggle don't miss is if you're in the region, but maybe go in the morning or evening!
