Bich Dong Pagoda, Ninh Binh

(4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Bich Dong Pagoda stands out with its unusual formation--each of the three pagodas rest on three different levels of the mountain. Climb the steep stairs, wind through the caves, and see rice fields on the way up. The path abounds with vistas of pointed green mountains, mist, and rivers. The pagodas have different designs--the low pagoda boasts five departments, while half of the middle one is carved into the mountain. A green pond encloses the top pagoda, creating a serene and picturesque ambiance. Enter the gloomy interiors displaying altars, Buddhist statues, and smelling strongly of incense. Consider bringing a flashlight to better explore the caves. Make Bich Dong Pagoda a centerpiece of your Ninh Binh vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Ninh Binh itinerary maker.

  • The pagoda is located about 3 km from the jetty in Tam COC on a mountain. It was quite a lot going on, but still worth a visit. Here are some nice photo shots. In front of the entrance is the paid parking for bicycles and mopeds. Go out from there along the way and direction of entrance, you can climb the mountain. From there, arriving in a beautiful valley, without tourists. A local resident has shown there very nice and interesting a cave us for a small fee. Unfortunately there are from there from no trail back to the pagoda, so we have just kicked back.

  • Only saw the entrance and that looked nice. The surroundings are beautiful there. Bich Dong Pagoda built on the mountainside village of Dam Bich Dong Khe, Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu district. Bich Dong is one of the most famous sights in Ninh Binh province was dubbed "dynamic Nam Thien II", which means sun Beautiful South's second, after the Huong Tich in Ha Tay.
  • Amazing place. The stairs through the cave with bats, interesting flowstone (bring a torch) and Buddhist shrine are a highlight. The whole place is so peaceful. Top spot!
  • Such an impressive landscape. Would recommend it to anyone!
  • Beautiful pagoda up in the hills. Totally worth the visit. Be ready to climb lots of stairs.
  • It's a really cool area to explore. I wouldn't come out of my way to see it, but as our hotel was right around the corner it was pretty easy to get to. There's a cool cave you hike up through to get to the shrine at the top. Overall it has pretty views and is worth a stop if you're in the area.
