Built on the place of a bamboo bridge, the construction stands as a legacy of the architect Gustave Eiffel and the French Governor Levecque who saw a need for the city’s modernization. Finished in 1899, the concrete bridge cost over 400,000,000 dong at the time; however, the structure has to be renovated in 1906.
