  • Go to the Citadel (Kinh Thanh Binh), also located on the banks of the perfume River. The construction of a fortress surrounded by a moat, with 2-metre wall thickness, the fortress was begun in 1804 by Emperor Gia Long (the first emperor of the dynasty Nguenov). It has a length of 10 km around the perimeter. Inside the fortress is the highest flagpole in Vietnam (47 m). The city was often the scene of a bloody struggle. So, in 1885, the French one was replaced. the Emperor on the other, objectionable soslav in Algeria to stop attempts to fight for independence of the country. And in a recent 1968 g. Communists finally managed to win from South Vietnam and the city. 10 days American forces continuously bombarded the Citadel, which had a population of 2/3 people. During the 3-piece and a half weeks, the city was in the power of the Communists. During this time, approximately 3000 people, including traders, Buddhist monks, Catholic priests and a number of foreigners, were shot, beaten to death or buried alive. The victims were buried in shallow mass graves that have been found in subsequent years. This is the sad story of the country, something familiar in it. Bay its KDDI!
