The Old House of Phun Hung, Hoi An
(3.2/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Proclaimed a National Historical and Cultural Site, The Old House of Phun Hung offers a perfectly preserved example of an 18th-century Vietnamese town house. Built in 1780, the two-story building displays Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese architectural influences, with a spherical roof reminiscent of a turtle shell reflecting the latter style on the second floor. As you enter, occupants of the house will greet you with a tour, depicting the site’s history and up-selling numerous handicrafts and souvenirs located around the house. Chat to the locals and admire the 80 pristine wooden columns supporting the house, stopping for a closer look when something catches your eye. Plan your visit to The Old House of Phun Hung and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Hoi An travel itinerary planner.

  • This House is big and beautiful. It is still partly inhabited. The explanations, in french, are interesting. Pity that the mercantile side, embroidered towels and tablecloths here, is always present during these visits of the old houses.

  • Bad service, beautyful acient house.
  • Swindle and timo disguised as a culture. After the removal of the ticket, an angry flight attendant dressed in Vietnamese (le woke up from the NAP) dropped us a roll learned English without any grace or energy. We got into the House and he shows us la.primera shop. Justifying it in that House was done embroidery they trying to sell us some charisms tablecloths. No chopping, face of anger. By gesture he tells us to go up and find the second store. Watercolors and souvenirs. He points out a corner where stored the remains of belongings of the family. A SCAM, NOT RIVALRIES.
