The War Remnant Museum, Ho Chi Minh City

Categories: History Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 13,000+ reviews on the web
The War Remnant Museum delivers a somber account of the horrors of the Vietnam War and other wars of colonialist aggression that have plagued the Vietnamese people. The museum's exhibits may contain a heavy dose of one-sided anti-American sentiment, but they well represent residual American--and other foreign--weaponry and the destruction it wreaked. Look for the French guillotine used to execute prisoners and for the unexploded ordnance stored in a corner of the yard. • Must-do while in Ho Chi Minh. Here you'll learn a lot about the war between Vietnam and the US. If guns, military vehicles and jets are your type of thing then make sure you check it out!
  • Outside the museum are a few war remnants like tanks, planes, and large caliber weapons. Inside the museum are a lot of exhibits and a lot of photos with descriptions about the war and the events that...  read more »
  • Australia was the invader and this war museum highlights the horrors of the war we participated in. Makes you think.
  • We can appreciate the misinformation that our western media feed us when covering a war. Yes, the exhibits tend to show a one sided version, but to understand the stupidity of a war against communism, this is very useful. The killing of innocent people has never been justified. It is great that many reporters shot atrocities, so that we can learn about them now. The visit to the museum should be a must for all visitors to Vietnam. The most troubling part is how the Vietnamese have forgiven and moved on
  • An incredible and eye opening museum. A must see with some amazing artefacts, and heart breaking stories. So glad we went and experienced this museum
  • very important sight to see. definitely has a biased perspective of things but that's really part of the attraction. Also unbelievable to see all the military equipment and tanks and planes. Make sure to leave plenty of time (almost 4 hours) but rest assured they let you back in after the lunch break with same-day tickets
  • Definitley worth going. Informative but much of the larger picture of political motivations behind the war were left out. Some truly shocking images and eye opening facts about the effects of Agent Orange and also the sheer scale and cost, both economic and human, of this war.
  • While the building and the exhibit is run down by western standards, the story of the war is extremely vivid. Educational and eye opening, incredibly sad. Gives a perspective of that this nation suffered and how it moved on to forgive. Top museum in Saigon.
