Saigon Outcast, Ho Chi Minh City

Early in 2012, glassy-eyed entrepreneurs Linh and Ha stacked 3 retro fitted shipping containers in an empty lot in D2, HCMC.

Although it was not much to look at then, the risky venture paid off and now Saigon Outcast has become one of the most important cultural spaces in Saigon.

Today, walking through the I-beam Torii gate and across the manicured Zen garden, brings you to those same containers, now, office space and an alternative skate-and-paint shop. Surrounded by graffitied walls painted by top local and international artists, Saigon Outcast encourages creative expression in all shapes and forms.

As host to international musicans, local theatre, skateboarding, BMX, and even rock climbing, Saigon Outcast continues to scrape out a space for all with BBQ’s, market’s, charitable events, and open mic’s. Open Tuesday to Sunday as cafe/bar and nightly venue offering workshops, outdoor cinema and weekly events like life-drawing and family friendly sundays including kids cinema and live music.

Welcome to the place, where you come to be you.

  • We walked in intending to get drinks but then after taking a few photos, a staff came and told us it was 1.5million VND to take a photo. Avoid this place.  more »
  • Certainly a unique place and pretty sure it's breaking a heap of health and safety regulations (rock climbing with beer and skateboarding a definite no no in Australia) Good beers and nice open area /...  more »
  • Came with my wife and 5 year old daughter and left after only 20 mins. Nothing special or unique... much smaller than I thought it would be. Rock climbing wall area was small, food selection limited, ...  more »

  • Nice outdoors spot for a good meal, business meeting or for work and play kind of day. I've discovered this place when went to Push Climbing rock climbing club which is on the same premises! What a great combo! Get your workout, grab a lunch/dinner and get some work done on your laptop! I just want to suggest they should add some healthier vegetarian and vegan options to their menu for those who don’t eat meat.
  • Rude service. Rude customers. Bad experience. High prices. Long term expat hangout. I didn't try the climbing wall. I am only commenting about the restaurant. If you are an expat who lives in Saigon, you probably already know this place. Everyone else should avoid.
  • The epicenter of expat cult tin Saigon. They really try to make this space a community. They have great craft beer, movie nights, foosball, rock climbing and even skate boards. One of my favorite places in the city for sure.
  • It located in the far reaches of Thao Dien in District 2 but I like to come here to climb. It's not a huge climbing space but it's one of the few in Saigon. They've got a tall wall with a bunch of routes to scale. There's also a small bouldering area to the right where you can test your strength and core.
  • Getting the tower is not what they say. Expect less beer, more ice, and shear disappointment. Get your beer.. not from here. Still tastes good though.
