Art Museum Museum
Examine a vast collection of Vietnamese art along with Cham, Khmer, and Indian objects at Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Museum‎. Set inside a French colonial villa, the three-story museum features historical relics created between the 7th and 17th centuries, as well as contemporary works of art designed by prominent foreign artists and Vietnam's ethnic groups. Inspect silk, lacquer, and woodcut paintings made in Hàng Trống, Kim Hoàng, and Đông Hồ styles. Observe the paintings, sketches, and statues that focus on the nation's fight for independence and resistance against colonial rulers. The museum lacks proper maintenance, so expect insufficient lighting and air-conditioning. • Amazing art before 1975 till modern art nowadays. Bit scared with the building, so old and bit dark. The toilet also feel like ancient toilet, kind of cute bit scary. Unlucky that during my visit so m...  more »
  • Some lovely pieces but mostly art from the last 40/60 years. We spent a couple of hours here but would not go back.  more »

  • Beautiful place to visit in Saigon! It used to belong to one of the richest man in Saigon- HuaBonHoa! The architecture is so unique! The first building was call a house of thousand door!
  • So much potential for this museum to improve visitors experience and even make it more profitable but unfortunately it is a bit run down, the walls and floors a bit dirty, no english guides. If you have the time, it is a nice visit. Allow for at least 2 hours. Entree fee 15.000 dong (less than USD$1).
  • Affordable entrance fee at 15k VND per person. There are three buildings showcasing both modern and contemporary sculptures and paintings. The museum provides medium size lockers to place your belongings, probably for the convenience of travelers who come with excessive stuff. Lessen the weight, I supposed. There are clean toilets at each floor which is a live saver. A water dispenser is provided on the ground floor but advise to bring your own water bottle. There are no air conditioners and each display room has about one or two standing fans. Perhaps to remain the original structure of each historical building, no air conditioner were installed. If you wish to visit during high noon, chances it'll be very hot. Plan your timing. As for the arts and paintings displayed, I highly recommend to any art seekers. Not going to spoil for anyone, so do visit whenever you're nearby.
  • My first ever art museum visit. Nice museum, which shows the evolution of Vietnamese art. Premises come in three buildings. First building: they selling arts and crafts on the ground floor, reception area. Modern and Pre-Modern arts; Second building: workshops, and chance to buy artists works; Third building: Pre-historic statues. You have to buy a ticket to enter the place which is 10,000 VND. Place is not crowded.
  • It's a wonderful place to see some local art along with other international artist. Two buildings with multiple floors showcase art of all mediums. The space is not climate controlled for those looking for a place to cool down this is not it, but there are restrooms on all floors easily accessible. For the price of admission at 10,000 VND you can not complain about the couple of hours of entertainment it provides. It's not comperable to a modern gallery. For those into architecture the colonial buildings also offer many interesting elements such as all the ironwork, and hardware from the period.
