Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Museum‎, Ho Chi Minh City
(3.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Examine a vast collection of Vietnamese art along with Cham, Khmer, and Indian objects at Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Museum‎. Set inside a French colonial villa, the three-story museum features historical relics created between the 7th and 17th centuries, as well as contemporary works of art designed by prominent foreign artists and Vietnam's ethnic groups. Inspect silk, lacquer, and woodcut paintings made in Hàng Trống, Kim Hoàng, and Đông Hồ styles. Observe the paintings, sketches, and statues that focus on the nation's fight for independence and resistance against colonial rulers. The museum lacks proper maintenance, so expect insufficient lighting and air-conditioning. • So many things to be seen. They are 3 separate buildings that filled with arts in each corner even the walls and door are colorful with the paintings. Definitely a place for art lovers.
  • Nice little Fine Arts Museum to visit whilst in Saigon! Lovely old yellow and while French colonial style buildings, Lots of different type of Arts, paintings and sculptures.
  • A lot of works on the theme of war, such an outdated patriotic socialist realism, and next to no Dajnekoj. Was pleased with the building itself, a French castle with exquisite floors and stained-glass Windows, but not on French locks wants to see in Vietnam. Wing with the most contemporary art a little razbavilo the overall sad impression, well and a small Hall with children's paintings on the first floor is probably the most cool and fresh that there is in this museum.

  • A very depressing place. No smiles. The art is almost all "struggle-inspired". No pieces from prior to 1975. Poorly lit and not very clean.
  • Cheap entry ticket and 3 floors in the main building of modern art on different medium, including traditional Vietnamese lacquer, canvas and watercolours. Most of the work is from the revolutionary period. It's nice to visit at the end of the day when the air isn't as hot, or during rain when the breeze in the corridors is stronger.
  • The villa was a great to immerge myself into art gallery. However, the decoration exterior as well as inside the hall way are still poor
  • Low on frills, but high on accessibility. The building is lovely and historic...and haunted! Definitely worth an afternoon if you want to see some local art. Don't try to compare it to the Louvre.
  • Many precious and sentimental artworks by Vietnamese artists could be appreciated. The 3 buildings themselves are interesting also
