Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City

2.7
Learn more about the city at Ho Chi Minh City Museum, a neoclassical museum with historical exhibitions and archeological artifacts. Built in 1885, the structure was originally operated as the Gia Long Palace. After taking in the building's architecture, head inside to see displays about local independence, city maps, and artwork. Below the museum lies a system of concrete bunkers where President Diem and his brother hid out in 1963. After touring inside, check out the American-built fighter jet used to bomb the presidential palace in 1975, which is exhibited in the museum's gardens. Ho Chi Minh City Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Ho Chi Minh City Edition.

  • It depicts a part of the history of Vietnam and its wars, especially with the USA. Abroad, seized cars, planes, tanks, helicopters, etc. Has multiple floors and many images of war and the lives of Vietnamese, some shocking. The visit. I noticed that some visitors (Americans and Australians), not very appreciated what they saw. Why is it?

  • Pretty good, on the 2nd floor there is a lot of great stuff from the war, outside there's also some pretty cool jets and helicopters. It's only a dollar to get in so if you're around you might as well have a quick look in.
  • Really interesting place, especially if you are interested in Vietnamese history but think the war remnants museum might be too hardcore. Downstairs is more non-political history, artefacts of stuff like music, theatre, invention and production. Upstairs is a lot of historical info about the Vietnam war, there's one section dedicated to the north and one to the south. Really recommend this museum for some overall info about Vietnam.
  • This place is quite dark. The exhibits are not managed accordingly and dusty. The only interesting items are currencies during French occupation. However they are not in the mint state.
  • Worth visiting when you stay near bay. It is full of exponats but relatively boring. Not so many turists which is good.
  • Very informative and interesting collection covering the development of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) and the country of Vietnam. Well worth a visit.
