Learn more about the city at Ho Chi Minh City Museum, a neoclassical museum with historical exhibitions and archeological artifacts. Built in 1885, the structure was originally operated as the Gia Long Palace. After taking in the building's architecture, head inside to see displays about local independence, city maps, and artwork. Below the museum lies a system of concrete bunkers where President Diem and his brother hid out in 1963. After touring inside, check out the American-built fighter jet used to bomb the presidential palace in 1975, which is exhibited in the museum's gardens. Ho Chi Minh City Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Ho Chi Minh City Edition.

  • Looked out garden exhibit tanks and aircraft ATR as entered. Exhibits are from the military and Showa is unsure context like the archaeological ruins the retro home furnishings, exhibits. Less crowded so maybe that's why so break even some time slowly. While shooting the wedding photos than the museum itself and attracted to restaurants meet local color is held. In the garden restaurant and wedding reception can be thought surprising and off the beaten path does not.

  • Can not tell how great this Museum to tell more in detail for the historical story and pleasant to understand it
  • Not as good as we expected, building is lovely but that's all, we agree with RarotripNZ. When we visited the weather was very, very hot and humid, so at least could rest for awhile here.
  • A little too hot and lack of fresh air in the summer. It is supposed to portray the life and people of Saigon from the past (the installation starts from 19th century onward) and it did that in a so-so way. Anyway Vietnamese don't really care about their own history and their kids would likely to be the same.
  • One of the best historic building spots in Ho Chi Minh which is best for wedding photography. It also contains valuable historic items of Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City.
  • MUSEUM OF HOCHIMINH CITY Origiaal name: Gia Long Palace now officially the Hồ Chí Minh City Museum located on 2 hectares of land, near the Independence Palace. The 2-floored palace building covers an area over 1700 m², using classical Baroque architecture with European and Oriental influences. The flooring, staircases and halls were European-styled, while the roof was Oriental-inspired. Many other motifs embossed on the roof is a combination of Greek mythological symbols, iconic plants and tropical animals such as lizards and birds flying or expanding its wings. This beautiful palace is also one of the most visited place of many couples in the wedding shooting ceremony. In another hand, this museum need to be more profesional and increase its quality to reach the standard of world museum.
  • Valuable historic content and great views.
  • A reasonable museum, with lots of information to see, but unfortunately was mainly just a heap of photos and newspaper clippings - not much in the way of artifacts or displays. Pretty small, can do it relatively quickly.
