(2.1/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Famous for its Binh Tay Market, Chinatown (Cho Lon) - District 5 is full of teahouses, pagodas, and restaurants. This neighborhood dates back to 1778 and is popular among many tourists, but especially those from China and Taiwan. It was here that Chinese people hid from Tay Son and, later during the Vietnam war, American soldiers traded for goods on black market. Aside from shopping and eating traditional food, you can visit several sites in the district including notable mosques and temples. • Was amazed to find that the vendors here could speak fluent mandarin. For that, we didn't have communication barriers and had an easy shopping experience at Binh Tay Market as well as An Duong Market!
  • I highly recommend Chinatown especially the area around the local markets. Really interesting to the fresh produce and animals.
