West Lake, Hanoi

3.8
#2 of 25 in Parks in Hanoi
Sightsee and relax at West Lake, surrounded by interesting sites that include an 11th-century Taoist temple and Vietnam's oldest pagoda constructed in the 6th century. You can rent a boat to observe the cityscape from the water, or try out local dishes at one of the floating restaurants. The urban area represents a mixture of corporate and residential buildings, but despite the vibrant nightlife and thriving commerce, you can still spot traditional fishermen working along the lake's coastline. Keep in mind that this lake is not suited for swimming due to pollution. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to West Lake by using our Hanoi online trip itinerary maker.

  • Amazing sunset overlooking the west lake in Hanoi capital. Drink cocktail and watching the sun disappear in the west so beautiful  more »
  • We had walked from the old quarter via the Mausoluem, botanical gardens and the B52 Lake and were looking forward to a nice walk around this large lake, unfortunately there were no lakeside footpaths....  more »

  • This lake is again quite big in size bit I found it not maintained as the other lake. You can walk along the shore but there’s not much activity going on .you can skip to go and see this lake if you have limited time. Choose any other good attractions to see rather than going here.
  • Very nice and peaceful place. We can walk around, so stay at a coffee/tea shop, get a drink and enjoy the view. Very like this lake.
  • Visited the lake in march, spring season. It was very cold (~19C). The air here is fresher than old quarters as there are lesser vehicles and scooters. There are many cafes that offer affordable cocounuts for you to drink while relaxing and enjoying the view and breeze. The place is quite far from old quarters by foot, highly recommended to take the taxi.
  • Many Koreans live here, the scenery is good and beautiful
  • The lake is huge and cool. West Lake ice cream is on point, a must-try. it is cheap and yummy. it is a lovely stroll if you go around West Lake. you can also try coconut water for few $. you can rent a bicycle to ride around and try food around West Lake. West Lake is definitely my favorite place.
