Thap Rua Tower, Hanoi

(3.4/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Standing in the middle of Sword Lake, Thap Rua Tower, or "Turtle Tower," commemorates the legend of Vietnamese warrior Le Loi. This tower was built on the Turtle Islet in 1886, but is based on an older structure, Ta Vong Temple, which was built in the 17th and 18th centuries. This attraction cannot be accessed, so you must simply admire it from afar. Go for a walk around the lake and take in views of this historic landmark, which is beautifully lit up at night. Plan your visit to Thap Rua Tower and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Hanoi holiday planner.

  • This should be seen by night since it fades into the surroundings by day. Mainly of interest through the associated legends.  more »
  • The tower is illuminated at night, then he is a beautiful subject. Daytime unspectacular as a ruin and the island on which the tower stands is also unavailable.

  • The Tortoise Temple is a beautiful little structure in the middle of the lake with an ancient story. It feels magical at night with the lights! You get the best pictures here!  more »
