Categories: Landmarks, Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.6/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web
Explore a Catholic spiritual haven designed in the Neo-Gothic style at St Joseph Cathedral. Built more than 120 years ago with stone slabs and bricks, the structure resembles Notre Dame in Paris and represents one of earliest structures erected by the French colonialists. As you arrive at the site, notice the two square-shaped towers, each fitted with five bells. Inside, observe arched windows fitted with stained glass, and notice how the vaulted ceiling resembles those constructed in medieval Europe. Expect limited visiting hours, especially during religious ceremonies. Put St Joseph Cathedral at the forefront of your travel plans using our Hanoi travel itinerary planner.

  • 這只是一所規模比較大一點的教堂,和你在西方國家所見的沒有太大分別,還是這裏的地標。進入內面是免費的。旁邊的街道有不少的商店可以讓你流連一個下午。
  • Nice building I guess but by no means great and I'e walked by on various days at various times and it is never open to go inside.
  • Seen from the outside but this time went into for the first time. Just did a wedding. Beautiful as in stained glass beautifully surprised in the difference between the outside!! ️ wedding song heard is voice better listening I.

  • The side door is always open for visitors. Nice place to relax and enjoy European gothic design.
  • It was open yesterday in the evening (for Reunification Day? ) and this morning (probably for regular Sunday worship). Just 300m from Hoan Kiem Lake (to the west), one of the popular tourist attractions and Landmark.
  • Closed all the time. You'll be lucky if it is open. Even then, the place is packed with people and impossible to move in or out. The exterior is nice though.
  • I spent 8 months in Hanoi, every time I was meeting someone in the center this was where we met. I only saw it open once and then we were even locked inside because they were in too much hurry to close up. Nice cathedral though.
  • We didn't even try to go in it and the street was lined with schools that were finishing so the street was in total chaos. This was around 4:30pm. As long as you don't hold it to European standards, it's beautiful and photographs well. It's also fun to see the locals out front playing badminton.
