Old Quarter, Hanoi

(4.4/5 based on 17,000+ reviews on the web)
Walk to the hum of local traffic and curious tourists in Old Quarter, the business district and downtown hub of Hanoi that dates back to the 13th century. Bearing the names of the businesses that once stood there, the quarter's narrow streets teem with cafes, bars, temples, shops, teahouses, and stalls selling French and Vietnamese foods. Watch a water puppet show, plant yourself at a sidewalk cafe to drink a local beer, or bargain with a smile at shops and street food stalls. Work out when and for how long to visit Old Quarter and other Hanoi attractions using our handy Hanoi vacation generator.

  • As with many Asian "Old Quarters", this one is hustling and bustling, with the usual mix of budget hotels, eateries, shops, souvenir shops, and food being prepared right on the street. The tangles of ...  more »
  • We were a total of 8 days in Hanoi, have each day other parts visited old town and discovered new parts and a wide range of industry. The variety of offers is indescribable, the dealer reundlich and helpful, sometimes they want to press on excessive prices also strangers, but not generally. between denLäden, you can watch always eating, drinking, reading, and enjoy the atmosphere. All modern very originally, dynamic and very little tourists. the offers of individual dealers are in your ranges so versatile and deep, as we in Europe through the Standerd chain stores even more know it's. No turn on, no Aufdriglichkeit, no begging, just friendliness and flexibility. Very impressive.
