Military Museum Historic Walking Area
A prominent 19th-century landmark, Hanoi Flag Tower stands as the most recognizable feature of the city's World Heritage Site, the Hanoi Citadel. King Gia oversaw the building of this tower between 1805 and 1812. It is an iconic attraction because it is one of the only structures in the city that wasn't destroyed in the late 19th-century French invasion. The flag at the top of this attraction stands at 41 m (134 ft) high. When you visit the site, you can climb stairs to the top of the tower and take in views of the city. • Visited in 2011. Interesting artefacts / military hardware / war remnants. Worth climbing the (19th century?) flag tower on a clear day for a decent view of Hanoi.
  • Great war memorial. Not clear if you need to pay to get in.
  • Well worth a 1 to 2 hour visit to know more about history of Vietnam and have some great photography opportunities
  • worth checking out
