Hanoi Flag Tower, Hanoi
(3.6/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
A prominent 19th-century landmark, Hanoi Flag Tower stands as the most recognizable feature of the city's World Heritage Site, the Hanoi Citadel. King Gia oversaw the building of this tower between 1805 and 1812. It is an iconic attraction because it is one of the only structures in the city that wasn't destroyed in the late 19th-century French invasion. The flag at the top of this attraction stands at 41 m (134 ft) high. When you visit the site, you can climb stairs to the top of the tower and take in views of the city. • We had quite a few opportunities to view the Flag Tower around the Citidel, Ba Dinh Square area when we were on foot/cyclo riding.
  • The flag tower is part of the Hanoi citadel, which is not impressive nor is it well kept. You can admire the flag tower from the road and not bother to get in.
  • This is part of the Army Museum, and is worth viewing as you get quite good views from the lower tiers. Included with the ticket price in the museum.

  • One of most beautiful places in Hanoi, located in the old Thang Long citadel
  • Hard to miss in the area here.
  • Remnants of the southern wall of the old Hanoi Citadel. Great photo opportunity here.
  • You have to claim to the tower to see the city :). Nice view.
