#6 of 39 in Museums in Hanoi
Military Museum Historic Walking Area
A prominent 19th-century landmark, Hanoi Flag Tower stands as the most recognizable feature of the city's World Heritage Site, the Hanoi Citadel. King Gia oversaw the building of this tower between 1805 and 1812. It is an iconic attraction because it is one of the only structures in the city that wasn't destroyed in the late 19th-century French invasion. The flag at the top of this attraction stands at 41 m (134 ft) high. When you visit the site, you can climb stairs to the top of the tower and take in views of the city. • The museum is interesting and worth a visit even though part of it is being upgraded, We enjoyed climbing the flag tower and inspecting the military hardware left behind from the Vietnam war.  more »
  • This site is part of the larger Hanoi Citadel world heritage site. As such, it deserves a spot on your itinerary. More recently, it is also a much photographed part of the Vietnam war.  more »
  • Honestly, just glanced from the taxi in Ho Chi Minh City Museum home. I don't think is worth the bother to stop by.
