Hanoi Ancient House, Hanoi
(3.8/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Get to know how 19th-century Hanoians lived at Hanoi Ancient House, located in the city's historic old quarter. The restored house represents typical Hanoian architecture of the period: long and narrow, with a square garden connecting its two sections and a small balcony on the first floor. Note the house's typical yellow shade, and the unique design that maximizes light. Take a turn around the interior to see the well-preserved old furniture and decor. You can also buy some traditional Vietnamese decorations and souvenirs in the onsite shop. Put Hanoi Ancient House into our Hanoi trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Not a whole lot to see here. It provides a quick glimpse of what a nice century-old Hanoi home would look like. My favorite part was the kitchen and seeing how everything was cooked over an open fire....  more »
  • The visit did not last very long, but it's a nice stop in the Old Quarter. It reveals the life and history of the owners. The price of entry is ridiculous.

  • If you are in the area or passing by, then go inside. Not much to see. Some stuff to purchase and a just a little history. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

  • It's an interesting attraction, but there's not much there. That said, admission isn't exactly expensive. If you're interested in this part of Vietnamese history or simply just older architecture, it's worth a visit. I quite enjoyed it.
  • Interesting how things were set up in a house of a wealthy merchant. Best to come with a local guide to explain things to you.
  • A dusty but interesting space.
  • Good to see how it was in the past
  • Nice nostalgic
