Hai Van Pass, Vietnam

4.3
#1 of 8 in Scenic Drive in Vietnam
Traverse Hai Van Pass, a 21 km (13 mi) long scenic route boasting vistas over lush misty hills, green valleys, and beach lagoons, some of which you might recognize from the Top Gear series. Along the way, see the small fishing village of Lang Co, a former leper colony and now a developed tourist destination. Stop to check out the old military bunkers, where you can also refresh with snacks, drinks, and exotic fruits. Don’t be surprised to see newly married couples climbing the ruins--couples often come to celebrate with photos overlooking the scene of foaming waves and sandy beaches. Plan your visit to Hai Van Pass and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Da Nang trip planner.

  • Mountain road that offers gorgeous views of the sea! Before the pass, be sure to stay at the Hotel Cafe on a viewing platform, is that the photograph, and just enjoy the clean mountain air.

  • If from Hue you must go to Da Nang by motorcycle or vice versa, you must do on the Hai Van pass (the Gallery is inaccessible to motorcycles). First of all, the street is not as terrible as many write, although of course we must be very careful. When we were on top of you could not see anything because of the fog, the market catches tourists won't even look. On the way down (toward Da Nang) actually there were sights carini, however I don't think it's worth taking a trip specifically (I saw several busloads of tourists ♀ ️)

  • The drive from Hue to Hoi an is worth the trip! The pitch is not nothing and I can't tell much since on you could not see anything! At the beach Sun crazy and out of a fog to cut with a knife. Dress appropriately

  • This was such a beautiful drive! Went with a motorcycle and it was breathtaking views. You do not have to go fast on the bends and there are plenty of places on the corners to stop and take a look around. Just drive safe and get a good bike! :)
  • Awesome route connect b/t Da Nang and Huế city. Going on this pass, we can look far to the Lăng Cô bay. There are alot of dangerous roundabout on. Also good location for taking shoot or selfie check in
  • Absolutely stunning views. Great to do on a scooter. Take a good jacket, it was freezing!
  • Amazing scenery!!! Best way to enjoy the view is to take the train or ride a bike through the mountain. I took the train and it was one of the best train ride I've ever experienced.
  • If there was ever a reson to rent a bike it would be to cruise along the Hai Van Pass. It is incredibly beautiful even on a foggy day with limited views. The stops along Hai Van pass has water and food but I would stay away as I did not feel comfortable staying there for the 2 hour I did to avoid the fog where the owner seems wo want me to go away despite buying drinks at her place.
