Lung Cu Flag Tower, Ha Giang

4.0
#5 of 18 in Things to do in Ha Giang
For many tourists, the drive or climb to Lung Cu Flag Tower is more impressive than the monument itself. Offering sweeping views of the surrounding area, the tower flies a big Vietnamese flag and remains a major symbol of patriotism. The monument was constructed to mark the northernmost point in the country, but the actual spot is on the border with China, just a short drive to the north. • The views from the top of flag tower are outstanding. It was well worth after driving and climbing under extremely hot weather. You will have chance to see over a lot of the hills of the Northern Ha Giang province and the way into China. The red colour of 54 sqm Vietnamese flag is very impressive under the blue sky.
  • Good scenic place where you actually see China across the river. Bikes ride take tou up and down which is around 20k dong. Stairs can be a little tiring
  • Don't freak out on taking the stairs. The view from the top of the tower is damn worth the strain on your feet. Since it's windy up there, you might find taking a wind cheater with you.
  • We managed to get there during good weather and the views are great. Remember to walk up to the top to see the views from the very top. We also got to see the flag being changed (which happens only around once a month) so it was amazing to see the flag up close and how big it was.
  • I was there in foggy weather, so I couldn't see anything. I don't think I would recommend others to drive the extra hour each way to get there in bad weather, but if you just want to cross it off your list, then go for it. The entry fee to get to the top was 25k
