Flea Market Shopping
Enter a seafood galore at Duong Dong Market, the largest market on the island right on the banks of the Duong Dong River. Get some shiny eels, flapping mackerel, barracuda, shrimps, squid, clams, shellfish and crabs. With daily loads of fresh catch brought regularly to the market, you can observe fishermen unload the catch. Freshwater fish is also available. Vegetables, live chickens, meat and other consumer products are sold in a bustling atmosphere. You can also get dried fish and squid and get your Phu Quoc fish sauce. Try local dishes sold at the stands like fish noodles, fried rice porridge and noodle soup and caramel with various nuts. • As there is much hype about the place, we took a taxi from our hotel to the night market. We walked around to see and feel the market.. after awhile you notice the stalls are selling more or less the ...  more »
  • We visited the night market in Duong Dong during the rainy season why it was rather sparsely visited. Range of goods was rather monotonous with t-shirts, shorts, copies of miscellaneous clothing, souvenirs etc. Are not especially interesting. What was really cool with the market where all the restaurants had their fish and shellfish in large "Aquarium" where you could choose what you wanted to eat, and then eat their freshest.

  • The markets were more fun than we expected! Easy going vendors & especially great ice cream desserts!  more »

  • The local market. Huge range of seafood and fresh fruit and veges here. Crazy busy with cars and motorbikes though. Locally grown pepper is popular.
  • Quite satisfied with local experience from this market. A lot of fruits, dried sea foods..
  • The local market in Duong Dong. Usually busy and traffic jam in the morning and afternoon when everyone gets here to buy food. The market provides goods for the town. You can find lots of seafood here, fish, crabs, prawns, squids.
  • One of the nicest markets I visited in Vietnam. Small and local. Full of fruit, vegetables and meat. Some stalls selling other wares, but not too many
  • Interesting place, fresh seafood, a late night for eating at Phu Quoc

Where to stay in Phu Quoc Island

The southwestern coast of Phu Quoc Island offers the greatest range of accommodations. Resorts of all sizes nestle up close to the golden sands there, with many of the more luxurious options boasting their own private beaches and beach bars. Farther out of town, you'll find a number of lodges and hotels, positioned in scenic coastal spots or along the main roads of the island's interior, with the latter providing particularly convenient access to the national park areas.
