Detailing the peculiar Hindu heritage of coastal Vietnam, Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture houses the largest collection of Cham artifacts in the world, with exquisite pieces ranging from the 2nd to 15th century CE. Featuring some 300 stone and terracotta pieces, the museum showcases masterpieces of Indic carving and architecture with elaborate ornaments rescued from Angkor Wat and My Son after a week of U.S. carpet bombing in August 1969. The 1919 French colonial building includes a large sculpture garden with highly ornate mythical creatures set in stone. Get one of the audio guides in English (you'll need to show ID), and afterwards browse souvenir replicas of altars and lingas. Unique museum related to Cham story. Unfortunately, like most of museums in Vietnam, both curatorial content and museology is very poor. Furthermore, there is no air-conditioning, lighting is off so it's quite difficult to really appreciate the story and the collection at its own value.

Free of charge. Come & see and learn. Why not!

Museum dedicated to the indigenous Cham people who lived very much under the Hinduism influence during the 7th to 15th centuries. This is the largest collection of Cham Sculpture in the world as it features more than 300 stone works & sculptures. The museum is situated by the Han River and within walking distance from the Dragon Bridge.
