Detailing the peculiar Hindu heritage of coastal Vietnam, Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture houses the largest collection of Cham artifacts in the world, with exquisite pieces ranging from the 2nd to 15th century CE. Featuring some 300 stone and terracotta pieces, the museum showcases masterpieces of Indic carving and architecture with elaborate ornaments rescued from Angkor Wat and My Son after a week of U.S. carpet bombing in August 1969. The 1919 French colonial building includes a large sculpture garden with highly ornate mythical creatures set in stone. • I really like these type of statues but it is very very small... In 20 minutes you are done. When a group of tourists arrive you can hardly walk around. Sculptures are pretty though!

  • Very nice museum featuring beautiful statues and plinths of Buddhist gods. Audiotour was interesting with lots of good info. Would recommend to any culture history enthusiasts
  • A nice modest museum and interesting place to learn about Champa culture, had an excellent guide with us from Emerald VIP Services that helped bring the place to life for us
  • I visited the museum several years ago while on a tour of Vietnam. I was very impressed with the collection and its presentation. So much so that I did what I do not ordinarily do, purchase a replica in the gift shop. I was particularly interested in what was described to me as a sandstone sculpture of Shiva. It cost USD 600 at that time including shipping to the US. After a very long wait for it to arrive and process through customs I was able to place it in my garden. Within a few months and after several rainstorms I noticed the sandstone color was changing. To make a long story shorter, what was represented as sandstone turned out to be cement colored to look like sandstone. What a disappointment at such a cost! The museum totally misrepresented the item. Don't trust them.
  • a modest museum, beautiful sculpture but can't relate the story and history behind. no air conditioning and it could quite warm inside during noon time.
  • A lovely collection if Cham sculpture. Some beautiful examples of sculpture from the Cham civilisation that flourished in the area some 500 years ago.
