Hospital Cave, Cat Ba

(3.2/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
A three-story medical safe house carved into the side of a cave, Hospital Cave was once a secret stronghold during the American-Vietnam War. Located in thick foliage nearing the entrance to the national park, the bomb-proof hospital represents an impressive feat of engineering, with a labyrinth of treatment rooms, offices, ammunition rooms, and even a small theater and swimming pool. Amble your way through empty, eery hallways, which served as home to many of the National Liberation Front or Vietcong from the hospital's completion in 1963 until 1975. You can hire a guide to take you through the hospital, then grab some local cuisine at the onsite restaurant. Put Hospital Cave at the forefront of your travel plans using our Cat Ba itinerary maker.

  • Nothing very remarkable but historically pierced into the rock of the mountain is very impressive. On the other hand it gives an overview of the conditions of life of this troubled time of the Viet Nam.

  • But really nothing to do other than concrete, empty parts... a beautiful guide explained to the beginning the movie theater, the kitchen, the bathroom... in the end there is nothing lost money!

  • Now it's more expensive so instead of 15.000 you pay 40.000 per person. The guide will tell you pretty much nothing and you have to discover on your own. It's just concrete inside the cave. I think it's not worth the visit. Rather go to the caves up north. They are more beautiful and you will enjoy the road.
  • Is to expensive for 5 minutes tour even with a guide(40.000), do not worth it
  • Nice short hike. Not much of a view but interesting nevertheless
  • Very unique bit of history with this converted cave, well worth accepting the tour guide in exchange for a tip/ price of your choosing.
  • This historic attraction is really cool. The hospital was carved into the mountain and it was used during the war.
