Campo Carabobo, Valencia

3.7
#3 of 13 in Things to do in Valencia
Walk along the historic site of the Battle of Carabobo, which sealed the independence of Venezuela, with a visit to Campo Carabobo. The site's historical significance has been immortalized as a historic walk in the neobarocco style, flanked by military monuments, columns, arches, altars, gardens, and many trees. Here you'll find the tomb of the Unknown Soldier guarded by two soldiers in period dress. Every two hours the changing of the guards takes place, which usually draws a crowd. Local vendors sell freshly picked mango plucked from the many mango trees on site. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Valencia holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Campo Carabobo and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Place of independence of the country where there's a strong military contingent to comedians and nazi fascists drumsticks.

  • It is inconceivable that a monument of this importance is closed to the public during the school holidays. Need better signage and tourist facilities. Totally wasted imposing monument. A pity...

  • the place is pretty spacious comfortable and lends itself to spend some time with the family... somewhat neglected in terms of green areas is bathrooms and visitor services... It is a site that deserves more attention

Where to stay in Valencia

Most of Valencia's accommodations can be found west of Autopista del Este, the highway that runs north-south through the city. Choices consist of standard-to-luxury chain hotels, boutique options, and simple, family-run guesthouses, representing Valencia's primary budget-friendly accommodations. If you stay in the southern neighborhoods, which are mostly residential, use public transport to access the city's major attractions.
