Remember the times when people sat at tertuliar and rest as I strolled through the center of Merida, now a place of transit, from which you can appreciate some buildings icon of the city, in addition to urban mobility.

The Plaza Bolivar is commonly a square in honor of the Venezuelan hero Simón Bolívar, called "El Libertador" by the title which was granted by the municipality of Caracas on October 14, 1813 and ratified at the Congress of Angostura in 1819. This square is what is known as the colonial, governmental, political and historical centre of each city, town, municipality, and State of Venezuela. In the cities of colonial age, the Plaza Bolivar corresponds to the ancient Plaza Mayor. In 1867 is placed in the renovated Plaza Simón Bolívar of Maracaibo (previously known as pyramid Plaza) a statue of the Liberator in marble - the first in the country in a public square. This marble statue, whose location is now ignored, was replaced on January 1, 1905 by the equestrian statue of the Liberator who today holds the square.
