Iglesia de Jaji, Merida

2.6
At the heart of a restored 20th century, Spanish colonial-style village lies Iglesia de Jaji. The church features a whitewash with light blue accents and modest details. The site serves as town's centerpiece, with much of the surrounding buildings in the same white and blue design and architecture. Painted murals draw the interest of many who visit the church. Masses are still held here, and the church serves as a central meeting point for the townspeople. To plan Merida vacation without wasting time, ask Inspirock to design an itinerary.

  • I try not to be stingy with our territory, because we have too much natural beauty. Jají Church is own enclosure village, with its simplicity and humility, here are his paintings and colors, because there are some beautiful photography and the postcard that make up the square and Church are beautiful. Although there is much to eat, there is a great tourist infrastructure. In fact, I was impressed that I went to buy a traditional drink chicha and they only offered me lemonade in an area producing strawberries and blackberries. But, well, it's a site that is part of the route of the beautiful and beloved Merida.

  • This village is very picturesque and cool. Streets around the square, empedadras emanate history and time. Its church is the heritage that kept the faithful of this small town where congregate to pray and to hear the Holy Mass, the word of God. It is wide and very particular, enter, one side shows the baptismal font of this church. And many images and saints. It is always comforting to stay a moment in prayer and hear the silence of this building. As such around this church is plaza de Jají, local crafts, baking, typical foods, etc that mainly open weekends and in high season. On normal days of this week very lonely and you run the risk of not getting anything open, also is a little removed from Merida, the road is not very good, what I recommend arriving early and leave early with daylight.
