  • Reading the comments here, I included here as part of my tour. What a fraud! It should reach the wet and leave the truck abandoned at the good of God, near the port where the boats depart to the island. Wait half an hour approximately, mounted on a boat, while it was crowded, under a merciless sun. Once, the boat to pluck, the beauty of nature envelops you (I think that it was the only thing beautiful ride, sadly) this tour takes little less than 15 minutes. We arrived at what was once a mini port. Walked towards the Castle, until, as there is no signage, or guides, showing you how to get. AHA! It was closed, but not for a while, closed since who knows when... at the end a lady we Indian as enter from one side and that I did. It must be said, the beauty of it, has been preserved, is a modest, beautiful, fortin at some side lei, that fueconstruido in 1623 with limestone rocks, brought from the island of Toas. Unfortunately outraged by his neighbors and visitors. Since you enter the main rooms, it hits you smell excrement and not just animals. Try to explore it, but the loneliness of it and the lack of security, I forced to navigate it fast, take some pictures, I said goodbye with sadness and I went. It must be said that the island like a zombie movie, everything looks really abandoned. As a tourist site of love, with a little love, discipline and maintenance, could this community, living the tourism... It is one real pain so much abandonment, so much neglect. I do not recommend this visit!

  • It is part of the history that few people know about and that few can feel. It is an awesome site, located in the mouth, in the middle of entrance of Lake maracaibo. It was besieged by pirates, and great story to tell, to get there, have to go to san rafael in the wet and the port take a boat that moved between several islands to this part of land that looks like an island, but it is not part of the Gulf... It is a populated area. If it is very hot.. .there that go with fresh clothing.

  • The Castle I thought it was spectacular, should better organize and prepare it for tourism. Something very interesting that I found was that when standing in one of the attachment points where he was a canon of artillery echoes are heard.
