Parque Nacional el Avila, Caracas

Categories: Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web
Near Caracas, Parque Nacional el Avila is surrounded by a mountain range and the sea. Ideal for relaxing, cycling, hiking, or mountain-climbing, the park has you covered no matter what your favored exercise. Due to the high altitude, you may find yourself out of breath rather quickly, so take it easy and drink plenty of water. Remember--the higher you go, the better the views. Plenty of ruins left over from Spanish colonization provide ideal places to rest and snap a few photos. Make Parque Nacional el Avila a centerpiece of your Caracas vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Caracas tourist route planner.

  • Has fair, have kiosk for snacks (try the "milling cutter with crema" which is nothing but Strawberry with whipped cream ". The view is beautiful, but a little tired walking up there (perhaps not so suitable for those with mobility difficulties).

  • The cable car that provides access to the top is a separate attraction, is the largest cable car I've ever been to. The top has a huge pole with the flag of Venezuela, a skating rink and the main attraction, the Humboldt Hotel, a luxury hotel built in the 50.

  • I went last year with my family to enjoy a different day. We went to eat at one of the restaurants there and then you walk a bit around the place to eat strawberries with whipped cream.

One of the most beautiful places in Caracas city, it's a National Park with a big mountain. It's perfect to jogging, breathing fresh air and sharing with friends in nature. There's a lot of sales of food and beverages in Sabas Nieves entrance. I recommend using sport clothes and sneakers, use sunblock and carry a water bottle. To be safe, you must go with somebody and avoid lonely roads.
  • The most important natural park in Caracas city (and Vargas). Many hicking paths, also can be accesed in 4x4 jeeps or using the "teleférico". Higly recommended. It is more enjoyable if you choose non-hollydays to go (less crowded).
  • As a local, this mountain range means a lot to us. Most locals love to climb this mountain any day of the week but mainly on the weekend. If you don't feel don't like making the 3 hour hike to the top (Moderate hiker), you can always take the very enjoyable cable car. Lots of food and great views at the top. I recommend buying the local wine ;)
  • Hiking and View are amazing, you also can camping weather is nice all year just raining can be a inconvenient.
  • Great view of El's a shame that the Humboldt is not working neither the teleférico
