  • The real name of this church is Church of the Immaculate Conception, name that continues until today, but as once there were the Franciscans it has been customarily call it Church of San Francisco, as well as the corner. This church is steeped in country history and I am surprised that it happens so unnoticed to visitors because it contains amazing religious articles. For example in the part high is the reliquary cross, which as its name suggests it contains the "relics" of 14 Saints and Blesseds, including two of the disciples of Jesus. It is recalled that a relic is a small portion of the body of a Saint or some object that has been used and in this case that cross reliquary contains a bit of bone de 14 santos. It has an old and very striking confessional by the way in as decorated it its constructor. In relation to the history of Venezuela, this temple also has role and was because there was awarded to Bolívar the title of liberator, but it was here that he was baptized or confirmed, Bolivar named him in the Cathedral and in the chapel of his home confirmed. When they brought the remains of Bolivar were brought to this temple to pay homage and then buried in the Cathedral where it was removed years later transfer to the national pantheon. Apart from the Virgin of solitude that honors him every Saturday, I believe that the Holy most revered Church is San Onofre that many ask for work. There are five images of the Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción as already mentioned is the real name of this church. This temple has a very interesting ossuary that recently was restored, it's like a mini graveyard and you can visit only with permission, but if you want to visit only have to talk to the priest to let them enter accompanied by the or by the Sacrista n. the ossuary is underground, very well lit, located behind the altar through the sacristy. It has two broad but not deep pits and various niches in the wall containing people centuries ago. In another part of the Church has a door on the floor that I call it the "secret door" because many will pass by to the side without realizing it, even stand on it and nothing to realize, but it is the entrance to the catacombs. The latter is not open to the public. Part of the sacristy is surprising to be so wide, more than it has stairs, rooms and even a small courtyard open pit that communicates to another entrance on the corner of little birds. The sacristy also has striking objects as a former custody, a gigantic image of San Onofre, the mas big that I've seen of any Saint and the floor remains a part of the original terracotta floor protected by a resistant glass. Thank you let God after much insisting see the underground ossuary and the body that is in the upper part of the Church. Now I think that there is no problem to see the ossuary, but when I went I think were still not allowed entry because they are newly restored and that he guided me was a bit afraid of us to see, so we had to do everything a little rushed. Want to visit this church is easy to locate it because it is front of the Congress, a block from the Capitol subway station.
