Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Park, Caracas
(3.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Combining three distinctly different natural areas, Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Park allows tourists to see the city from a different side, with locals going about their daily lives. Take a walk through the park to see a grassy field, dense forest, and landscaped garden. A stroll along paved garden paths brings you to water features and murals made of tiles. Notice groups of runners using the park as their workout space, picking their way through the  sometimes crowded pathways. Bring some money if you're interested in shopping for handicrafts at the street market or tasting local foods. • Very good choice for walking and lying down in the grass, see some animals, play outdoors, and especially the ride by the replica of the ship of Fco de Miranda

  • A park was an excellent alternative for recreation in the past, with its lagoons, spaces, sports fields, Zoo and the famous replica of the Caravel Santa Maria where Cristobal Colón came to America. That no longer exists. Today between insecurity and mismanagement of the Government entity responsible for caring for the Park, everything is history. You can go to walk and see the former Zoo, play in their neglected sports and eat something perhaps in any Cafe, but the Majesty that had complex already is not. Although still is that the city is committed to rescuing (the less nostalgicamente) what was the Eastern Park, practicing Tai Chi, Jogging, Yoga, or any other outdoor activity free in their spaces. It is a visit that before being forced walk, today can be dispensed with. Very sorry!
