Built under the instruction of then-president Antonio Guzman Blanco and designed by architect Luciano Urdaneta in 1872, the neoclassical structure stands out with its gleaming white facade, Corinthian columns, and golden oval dome. Head inside to survey Martín Tovar y Tovar's painting depicting the Battle of Carabobo between the Venezuelan and Spanish armies during the War of Independence, located on the ceiling of the dome. • The Federal Legislative Palace or also called Capitol Federal, is the headquarters and main building of the power legislative Federal of Venezuela, located in the city of Caracas, specifically at the University Avenue, opposite the Plaza de Bolivar, in the Capital District. As the seat of one of the public powers of Venezuela, it is a building of great architectural, institutional and political, one of the legacies of the first Government of the General Antonio Guzmán Blanco (1870-1877) in an effort to modernize the capital city. The Federal Capitol since 1877 hosted the three powers of the nation the Executive Federal, legislative, and Judicial. But since 1961 is used exclusively by the national legislative power. Due to its historical and cultural importance, the building was declared a national heritage on August 22, 1997. The Capitol is also one of the main centers of historical attraction of the capital of Venezuela.

  • Close to the plaza bolivar in downtown caracas. Nothing to highlight, is small and I didn't want to be guided.

  • The Capitol is a historical place that certainly deserves to be visited even if only once, as all the center of caracas is recommended to be accompanied and to be careful when walking

Where to stay in Caracas

Safety is the number one priority when choosing an area to stay in Caracas. The city has many no-go zones, although accommodations are typically located in safer areas. Nevertheless, it's worth asking your hotel receptionist for advice before you go out on your own. Caracas offers a range of mid-range and luxury hotels at surprisingly high prices, with few budget hostels available. The areas around Bulevar Sabana Grande and farther east are generally considered the safest options of foreign travelers.
