Where to stay in Caracas

Safety is the number one priority when choosing an area to stay in Caracas. The city has many no-go zones, although accommodations are typically located in safer areas. Nevertheless, it's worth asking your hotel receptionist for advice before you go out on your own. Caracas offers a range of mid-range and luxury hotels at surprisingly high prices, with few budget hostels available. The areas around Bulevar Sabana Grande and farther east are generally considered the safest options of foreign travelers.

  • Located in a very quiet part of the city, in the middle of tall mango trees, Los Galpones offers a great opportunity to see modern art, buy a book or eat in a safe and peaceful environment.  more »
  • It's a small open space with art pavilions, bars and a restaurant inside circumscribed by walls. Important to specify this final thing because it's makes the place safer than the rest of Los Chorros. ...  more »
  • You can find art galleries, a nice library with excellent coffee and on sunday night there´s movie outside. Very nice selection of movies to watch and have a no alcoholic mojito.  more »

  • Varied entertainment, nice gardens, food and bathrooms. The bookshop is great. Not easy to get there though
  • +: Easy to get to, good valet, the coffee and brownies at the entrance are amazing (still haven't taken the rest of the menu), the decoration and cleanness is as good as expected, the book store is full of worthy pieces and the restaurants are pretty good even if they are expensive. Perfect place to hang out for a first date or a casual talk. -: Too many flies due to the still waters, which might seem a little bit dangerous and usually on weekdays is a dead point (this might be a good thing for some)
  • It's nice looking and it has movies on Saturdays. However, you can't take pictures inside without special permission from management and it's mostly watch only, except for the bookstore, which has nice books and a coffee shop. Not interactive enough to be worth a tourist visit, I think.
  • Very nice, quiet place where you can relax, have a coffee or even lunch. Art galleries have very interesting exhibits, definitely worth checking out.
  • Art, nature and amusement combined in one place. A 'must go' for Caracas inhabitants.
