  • Its antecedents date back to the 16TH century, when, in the same place, built the first Church in the city of Caracas. This followed other buildings to make way for the current Cathedral. It is located next to the Plaza Bolivar in Caracas, in the corner of the tower. Here was christened the Liberator in 1783 and lie the remains of the parents and wife of Simón Bolívar in the chapel of the Holy Trinity, decorated with a fine interlacing example of mudejar coffered ceiling, one of the five ships that has in its entirety since its construction in 1666 of Baroque style and with more than 300 pounds of gold brought. Here rested the remains of our liberator from 1842 hasta1 876, year in which were definitively moved to the national pantheon. It is currently in possession of a large set of religious images, colonial retablos, and works of art from different periods. It was declared a national monument on September 23, 1957. On the dome of the Bell Tower in the corner of the Tower, St. James the Apostle evangelist of hope, us monitors and on the front of the facade of the Cathedral, the "Vera Cruz" reminds us that truth is conquered and that the wicked are always defeated.

  • Grand place. It is often not crowded. It retains its colonial spirit. In it you can see one of the last works of Arturo Michelena, in addition to the crypt of the Bolívar family.
