Salto el sapo, Canaima National Park
(4.8/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Climb behind a roaring waterfall at Salto el sapo. As you approach the waterfall you'll get a grand view of the falls, but you can also snap photos from the observation areas above and below the falls. The biggest attraction here is the path going behind the waterfall. Be prepared as the water comes down with a lot of force, and be sure to keep hold of the guide rope to stay safe on the slippery path. Wear a bathing suit and waterproof your belongings before going under, as you are sure to get wet. Put Salto el sapo and other Canaima National Park attractions into our Canaima National Park trip generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • We were a group of travellers in the Waku Lodge to experience to walk behind a real powerful water curtain falling from Salto el Sapo. We were blessed with abundant, and recent rains giving us a very strong flow of water. At one point, we were even forced to go straight in the fall, then hair to water! To walk without slipping, we took the advice to remove our shoes and go on our bottom only: very effective so they don't slip! Once past the fall, a basin offers a pleasant swim. Count at least 30 minutes to go, and the same market to return, this time through the Summit. We did the tour with Canaima Tours that I highly recommend: great organization, great guide for an unforgettable outing!
