Salto el sapo, Canaima National Park

4.9
#2 of 14 in Things to do in Canaima National Park
Climb behind a roaring waterfall at Salto el sapo. As you approach the waterfall you'll get a grand view of the falls, but you can also snap photos from the observation areas above and below the falls. The biggest attraction here is the path going behind the waterfall. Be prepared as the water comes down with a lot of force, and be sure to keep hold of the guide rope to stay safe on the slippery path. Wear a bathing suit and waterproof your belongings before going under, as you are sure to get wet. Put Salto el sapo and other Canaima National Park attractions into our Canaima National Park trip generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

Pass behind the curtain of water from this waterfall is an experience unparalleled, full of exciting adrenaline before the force of the water that serves as a curtain between the wall of the waterfall and the imposing landscape of extensive savanna covering.

It is one of those natural attractions which you can not miss to reach Canaima. Very close to the lagoon, only 5 minutes from curiara ride and 10 minutes of gentle trekking, the salto El Sapo offers an experience you will never forget. It is important to go with a guide and follow their instructions at all times, since in some sections, depending on the volume of water in the waterfall, there may be risk of injury. We had a large volume of water, which made the step behind the fall an extreme experience. The water falling with great force, creating a deafening sound that intensifies the experience. When you reach the other side you can enjoy a unique view of the waterfall. Totally recommended.
