  • A little away from Port Vila is the "Gallery & Foundation": Michoutouchkine and Pilioko. The site is superb: both waves of the open sea, with a beautiful vegetation and pathways and the entrance to the lagoon of are left completely natural. Can't be that surprised, almost bewildered arriving: the Palm trees of the entry are painted yellow... cars daily are colored as tables, would be boxes are unexpected with pieces of art in the open air, a workshop of painting for shirts and other, of tropical small kiosks etc... The, wooden house on 3 levels, is a mixture of paintings of Aloi Pilioko, of Oceania collections, of the most unexpected finds. The master of the House is the quintessential artist: all in color, very simple and not always detectable clever charm of immediately. Impossible to imagine such a character of this nature in the Pacific: it does not exist. Esnaar: it is the name of the place, was a real artistic, intellectual and even diplomatic home with Nicolai Michoutouchkine and Paul Gardissat, both missing, there are few. They leave a very strong impression that we must try find if difficult to characterize this area so it is nested: plant, local architecture, objects of Oceania, history and stories, paintings that will remain to posterity and characters that don't fit in any class except big names forever.
