Very interesting trip into a traditional village. The guide spoke excellent English and his commentary was excellent. Fantastic to see how these people still live, hunt and keep the traditions going.  more »

Just arrived back from Carnival 10 day cruise & did Mele Bay Cultural Tour. This was the best tour we did during our trip. Very informative and yet there was also humour. Hubby & kids aged 10 & 8 had a great time watching the magic and dancing. There were some animals including a coconut crab which was really strange looking! The best part is that the funds paid for the tour are being used to educate the local children in an attempt to preserve their history & culture. Well worth it!

I recently visited the cultural village as part of a cruise tour and wish I could have had more free time to explore. There was a wealth of cultural and historical knowledge imparted during the performance and the displays around the gardens expanded further on this. Very welcoming and hospitable staff.

It shows the real Vanuatu life, when there was no civilization yet.

Where to stay in Port Vila

As Efate's largest town and the hub of tourist activity, Port Vila offers solid lodging options catering to foreign visitors. Consider staying in an upscale hotel or chain resort along the shores of Vila Bay for easy access to beaches and central attractions. Many hotels and guesthouses allow children under 12 to stay free of charge, and checking for this ahead of time can help you score extremely economical accommodations. You can also look for affordable rooms a bit out of town, at inland guesthouses or low-key resorts. If you do choose to go that far, consider renting a car.
