Million Dollar Bay, Luganville

(3.8/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Snorkelers will be in heaven at Million Dollar Bay, a stretch of white sand shoreline and clear waters, where visitors can explore World War II wreckage just offshore. At the end of the war, Americans dumped gear and equipment into the sea, including heavy equipment like bulldozers, containers, artillery, and boats. As the years have passed, marine life has incorporated the foreign items into their environment. Today you can snorkel above the wreckage now decorated with reefs and tropical fish that creates a unique sight. • Such an awesome place to snorkel. There is a heap of machinery and objects left from World War 2. Loads of amazing fish and coral. Defiantly worth going to.  more »
  • The Bay is located just outside Luganville, entrance costs 1000 VT. The Bay has a beautiful and pleasant Beach, but take a dive beneath the water surface. From 20 cm you can find all kinds of objects that were dumped by the US Army after World War 2. Swimming a little further and try to recognize the topics, cannons of a tank, a forklift, a jeep, a landing craft. This is really a complete history that drowned here. Take your time to explore all and also give the beach some attention, it is littered with pieces of glass of old Coca Cola bottles.
