Metro Taschkent, Tashkent
(4/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Explore station to station on Metro Taschkent, one of most ornate underground transit systems in the world. Built in 1977 in the former Soviet Union, the metro contains three lines--Chilonzor, O'zbekiston, and Yunusobod--divided into 29 architecturally themed stations, and carries a daily average of 162,000 passengers. Examine the artistic decorations and interior designs of each station, usually made of marble, granite, metal engraving, and carved alabaster. Security officials legally prohibit taking pictures, since the metro system installations belong to the military. Put Metro Taschkent at the forefront of your travel plans using our Tashkent trip itinerary builder.

  • Fantastic value and easy to find your way round Tashkent. Only downside is with a buggy it a bit difficult. I use this a lot now and the stations are really different but unique and cool to look at
  • The architecture of the Metro alone is worth a visit. Minimal cost (buy a token at the kiosk). Police on all entrances and no photography.
  • I do not understand. poor lighting, dark station, on Uzbeksi declare everywhere (although all speak Russian). You could declare the 2 languages and hang out underground schemes in wagons, as is done in all cities. Humiliating a dual system of screening of passengers-on the street and in front of the turnstiles (complete nonsense) large intervals between trains (day-6-7 minutes) from the beautiful stations will highlight-Pakhtakor. Booth, where sitting on duty actually left from the 70-ies ...
