  • You can get there by t. Naz. "collective taxis" (read, a minibus) from the village of Kaftarhona in Samarkand. Huge market with goods as Chinese and local production. T-shirts for 80 p and socks for 10 p is here. People are not accustomed to the European kinds of travelers, most, especially women, almost didn't speak Russian. Very friendly, we rejoiced as children crowded around and asked to be photographed with them. There is also a cheap side. Minus one-here absolutely insane taxi drivers.

  • We went to this market which was an hour drive from Samarkand because it was recommended in guidebooks. The Urghut Wednesday market was mostly a waste of time unless you just want to see a massive mar...  more »
  • I want to buy a suzani, Samarkand during Saturday morning, came in a shared taxi. Suzani Office was entered through the gate the landmark and will go back to the back, opening at the very back. MOM dad suzani spread quickly that surrounded during a ground cloth, cotton or silk, size wish to convey with hand gestures, showed me lots. Determine the right thing negotiated, paid in U.S. dollars. You could buy things far cheaper than saw in the shop of the Samarkand suzani, good fun. A vast Bazaar was mostly household goods and clothing for the local people. From Alley to Alley views slowly back to the landmark gate and hailed a fellow driver, so drivers go to Samarkand and fees negotiated and rode. In a cheerful and simple good man, towering mountains far away snow when you turn the camera and take a pose with a smile, was a very peaceful place.
