Lyab-i-Hauz, Bukhara

(4.3/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy the architectural ensemble centered around Lyab-i-Hauz, an ancient reservoir in downtown Bukhara that once supplied the city with drinking water. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, the complex features the largest madrasah in the city, a lodging house for itinerant Sufis, and another madrasah displaying two exquisite phoenixes on its pointed arch entrance. All three feature elaborately design, with typical sky blue and ocher tiles. A popular social gathering place for locals, the park around the pond features benches and cafes as well as a bronze sculpture of the medieval national sage, Nasreddin Hodja, and that of a camel caravan. Observe locals play board games by the pond, or enjoy a traditional meal under a vaulted ceiling. Using our world travel planner, Bukhara attractions like Lyab-i-Hauz can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • at any time of the year it is nice to sit in a café at the House (an artificial pond) in the Cafe and represent themselves in the medieval city. Ensemble typical buildings Kukeldash madrassah (Bukhara), divan-beghi khanaka divan-begi, traders, tourists ... This House, according to legend, was dug on the site of the home of old lonely Jewess. The woman did not want to give space for a reservoir, then the ruler was made a tunnel, underground water began to flood home, the woman had to leave it. history of century 16. If a bypass pond on the left in the alley next to a grocery store in literally 20 steps-synagogue. Necessarily zagnjanite, talk to the caretaker. He tells about life in the Soviet Union, about the fate of a large Jewish community, of which only 40 left in Bukhara families.

  • Lake in the center of the Central Asian city of unusual in itself. Excellent and great infrastructure around. Great place to take pictures of couples!

  • Lyabi House Hotel-an attractive place for tourists. Here is everything-and cafes and historic buildings and, of course, the Bazaar! Weight of national souvenirs, the friendly merchants in General, plunge into the atmosphere of a medieval town. But this afternoon and in the evening, this Piazza is transformed into entertainment center-LUMIERE, restaurants, dancing. Impression of the place will remain at all, even the most demanding tourists.

  • So beautiful and food there is really nice!
  • Nice place to relax in the evening. Just grab a drink and watch the local life.
  • This is one of the interest sites in Bukhara where are concentrated some attractions (Madrasas) and there are many restaurants and cafes where you can spend some time to enjoy the environment and the every-day life of the city.
  • More like fun place for locals and that's why I like it ;)
