Fortaleza de Santa Teresa, Rocha
(4.7/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Fortaleza de Santa Teresa remains one of the few remaining colonial-era fortifications in South America. Erected by the Portuguese in 1762, the fort sits on a rocky outcrop in a region known for its expansive dunes and wetlands. The structure's granite walls neatly complement the surrounding scenery, and the restored interiors and grand doors create an imposing atmosphere within the pentagon-shaped compound. Offering insights into the battles once waged here and the lives of those who fought them, the onsite museum exhibits artifacts from the colonial period. • The fortress of Santa Teresa is a beautiful tourist destination of the region, in addition to the sunset there is divine! It's worth it. In addition, the Park of Santa Teresa is a great option for those who want to camp out and relax.

  • It's splendid, beautilful place that hasn't been known as much as the historic and esthetic value for the public. Therefore you can still enjoy this quite and really peaceful place so far.
  • Imposing walls, very clean and well maintained.
  • An appointment forced with history, very good reviews and explanations... Excellent condition of conservation... A beautiful ride!
