Museo - Taller de Casapueblo, Punta del Este

(4.4/5 based on 8,000+ reviews on the web)
Learn about the life and work of painter, sculptor, writer, and composer Carlos Páez Vilaró at Museo - Taller de Casapueblo. Housed within a former summer house and studio designed by the artist himself, the museum and art gallery display the range of Páez Vilaró's exuberant work. He found deep and abiding inspiration in the African candombe music in the tenement where it flourished, and also traveled the world, exhibiting his paintings and other visual media. The museum's architecture alone makes the trip worthwhile: the white, warped-looking structure was built using traditional methods, using wood, concrete, and stucco. You'll notice that the maze-like complex contains no straight lines inside. As well as the museum and gallery, the building also contains a four-star hotel and a cafe. • I was delighted with this place! There are many beautiful paintings to see, and a spectacular, must view take a good camera and coat as to get you have to climb several meters of height. The only thing against which I can say is that there is no any buses that leave us at the door, all leave you on the highway and there is walking almost 2 km, but if you don't know the city is beautiful to walk looking at landscapes and taking pictures and becomes super smoothly. Staff could be more friendly. From the terrace is sees a view incredible surrounded of water for where look, and there is a buffet in which is can eat something while you appreciate the landscape. Really worth it penalty go. When I went (2 weeks ago) at the end of January, the entrance for adults was 8 usd and the children think that free.

  • Interesting museum about the home and life of Vilaró. Privileged place to view the sunset in Punta.

  • I could see externally this monument so Rico culturally, with a story so beautiful and rich. The beauty of this place impresses in every detail we feel the presence of the great artist who manipulated every inch of this place. I suggest go ahead where there is a beautiful gazebo overlooking Punta and own Casapueblo. Attraction not to be missed!
