  • Worth a visit this well accessible by public transport. The interiors are well organized and contain tools, equipment, objects and animals. Access is chargeable even if places absolutely affordable. To visit more calmly, perhaps with the help of a guide that gives account of the history of the various pieces.

  • Interesting Museum. Impressive size. Many bones of whales of various species. A lot of stuffed birds. Relatively cheap ticket, 190 pesos. On-street parking, free of charge. Recommend the trip especially if it's raining, where the attractions in Punta are half restricted to Cassino (who doesn't have a kid) and shopping.

  • The Museum of the sea has a considerable acquis, with several skeletons of marine animals (which were found dead) as well as birds. It also has a historical records about the region of Punta del Este. Worth the visit.

  • Museo del Mar is ideal for anyone interested in sea, ocean, and coastal history, geography, archeology, geology, paleontology, marine biology, regional flora and fauna no matter the age of the one attending. It's specialized in the history of the Río de la Plata -River Plate- and the whole coast of Uruguay, but it has objects from all around the globe. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a five star rate is the humidity inside the museum and the strong smells, also there is no natural lighting inside and an excess of signs with iformation that makes it visually tiring to the eye. But in the whole its a museum woth visiting, you'll certainly see and learn some interesting facts you've probably never imagined!
  • The Museum of the Sea, opened in 1996, is a museum of natural history located in La Barra, in the department of Maldonado, Uruguay. It occupies about 2,300 m² and is divided into four large halls, which are open to the public all year round. It is a must go place when you are in Punta del Este because they have so many specimen of fishes insects birds , antiques and so on .
  • Impressive collection of a lot of things and sea life. Didn't expect to fins such a place un Punta del este. Don´t miss to see the insects just in front of the museum. The entrance to the insects is for free. Perfect for a rainy day
  • Great place to spend a rainy day with the children.
  • Great place to see some of the regional marine life.
