Cerro del Toro, Piriapolis

3.9
#3 of 13 in Things to do in Piriapolis
Hike up Cerro del Toro, a minor hill that offers a wealth of hiking routes through a biologically rich area. At 253 m (830 ft) tall, the hill offers a good walking option close to town--do wear decent hiking boots, as the path gets pretty rocky and steep in places. Half way up the hill, you'll find a life-size statue of a bull, made in bronze and with a natural water source emerging from its mouth. Enjoy the vista from the bull's semi-circle vantage point, or head up to the hill's summit. Make Cerro del Toro a centerpiece of your Piriapolis vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Piriapolis trip planner.

  • At the base of the Hill, up 33 steps, is the statue of the bull that made build Piria, of which water comes out through the mouth. You can keep going up, but it is not desirable, the trail is not well-defined. In general this ride maintenance is missing. Only for a time.

  • Almost at the base of the Hill, only accessing a staircase is the statue of the bull that gives it its name, if the rise is already followed trails will reach a statue of a puma. To reach the top it should put more you win and follow a trail, in some cases is not very clear signs, but is without major problems at the top. The views from the top are beautiful, the silence and the peace enjoyed not give desire to undertake the descent. If they go up in the afternoon, must calculate well Flyback so you do not grasp the night.

  • You will reach a place where you can see a bull of metal flowing water through the mouth; then it is necessary to climb many stairs to see other somewhat damaged statues of animals; It would be nice to keep them!

  • If you go up... You feel like the end of the earth before the space 😍
  • The best place in Google maps is not correct. I finished check the GPS to locate myself. Rest when I went, nor was there water in the Bull.

  • It has a spectacular view, tranquillity and peace that they feel is unique. But I value it low score because it has no other maintenance is quite neglected.

Where to stay in Piriapolis

No one can say for sure what Francisco Pira would have made of the modern development in Piriapolis--but he wanted a beach resort, and he's sure got one. Hotels old and new cling to the beach, offering a variety of facilities including private swimming pools, outdoor dining areas, casinos, and spas. For something a bit quieter, explore the resort-style accommodations in the less built-up areas of the beach. Alternatively, head a bit back from the coast for simpler, modest options.
