Indulge in some retail therapy at Punta Carretas Shopping, one of Montevideo's best malls. With reasonable prices than and shops specializing in goods such as leather products and children's toys, the mall is suitable for the whole family. Don't miss the fresh market, where you can inspect the local produce and even bargain for a discount. Once you've finished your spree, check what's playing at the movie theater, then grab a bite to eat at the food court, or one of the mall's dine-in restaurants. • It is a very nice place, in a picturesque district, having all possible bids already is for residents to tourists, stylish shops and excellent quality.

  • The malls of Uruguay are much simpler compared to that of Brazil. Are small, ugly and with few options. The prices are not attractive. Do not recommend.

  • It is a shopping mall where you will find the best proposals in terms of quality, the best brands are here. This building was 40 years ago the Punta Carretas prison, which was amended and thereafter the neighborhood in general change notably today is one of the districts most beautiful and sought-after city.

  • Can’t really compare this mall to a traditional mall in America or Europe.. Things are just so different here. The pros: 3 different movie theaters to choose from, indoor and outdoor dining, the location. The cons: crappy selection of off-brand stores, general laziness of staff, weird interior layout.
  • Quite unique, many stores and places to just come by and take a look for shopping. Cinemas, restaurants. Great place to spend anytime of the day, plus it's a few blocks away from one of the best RAMBLA in the city.
  • Nicest mall in MVD by far. Sometimes a bit crowded but overall a good place to hang for a while.
  • Another Mall with a varied array of shops. It was one of the only places open on Sunday with the crowds to support it.
  • I would call this a chic shopping centre. It doesn't have thousands of stores but the stores that it does have are beautifully laid out and the variety is really good as well with a good balance of local and international. Parking is free for two hours and there is a pretty good food court as well. If you're in the area and you're missing a shopping mall then this is worth a visit

Where to stay in Montevideo

Montevideo's central neighborhoods offer plenty of hostels for budget-minded travelers, as well as a good selection of mid-range hotels for visitors looking for a bit more space and privacy. Luxury rooms are harder to come by, especially if you arrive without a reservation. If you want to indulge your every desire, your best bet is the waterfront area, where you can find four- and five-star hotels offering all the modern amenities you need, including complimentary bicycles and car rental services.
