Where to stay in Montevideo

Montevideo's central neighborhoods offer plenty of hostels for budget-minded travelers, as well as a good selection of mid-range hotels for visitors looking for a bit more space and privacy. Luxury rooms are harder to come by, especially if you arrive without a reservation. If you want to indulge your every desire, your best bet is the waterfront area, where you can find four- and five-star hotels offering all the modern amenities you need, including complimentary bicycles and car rental services.

  • Small museum. The staff here is very friendly and they would be happy to answer any questions you may have!
  • Small museum with a little bit of everything. Taxi driver didn't seem to know the place. Best pieces are outside in the scenery.
  • Not a very big museum, but it also has a full scale model of the Admiral Graf Spee, as well as one of the 6" cannons from the Panzerschiff
