Take a stroll through a fun and informative cultural institution at Museo del Carnaval, dedicated to detailing the history and traditions of carnival in Uruguay. Completed in 2006, the museum takes you down a lifelike cobblestone street and through a range of enjoyable and interactive exhibits, showing the costumes, music, and colors that take over the country's towns between late January and mid-February each year. See masks, instruments, and vehicles that have become symbols of the carnival, and pick up some gift ideas at the onsite shop.
