For whoever wants to know a little about the history of the Uruguayan Carnival is very interesting, in particular a very colorful place with much charm, I loved it and I recommend it to all travelers, with a very accessible entrance

Good to know more of the Uruguayan culture. Interesting collection, with variety of parts on display. Keep a cup of coffee.

Not everyone knows, but the Carnival tradition is famous in the country. Different from Brazil in rhythms and styles, the Uruguayan Carnival has five different lines. It is also a stage spectacle, because most of the presentations are so-on a stage or raised platform at the scene of the events. The party lasts 40 days, as in Brazil, occurs in February. The Museum shows that very well, with costumes, information and videos of the rhythms. Is a private space, with cheap and discount for residents of MERCOSUR. Easy access, next to the port market. Compensates for the visit.

If you have nothing else to do then by all means visit here. I personally didn't care for it though the staff was very friendly. It's just two rooms and very small.

Where to stay in Montevideo

Montevideo's central neighborhoods offer plenty of hostels for budget-minded travelers, as well as a good selection of mid-range hotels for visitors looking for a bit more space and privacy. Luxury rooms are harder to come by, especially if you arrive without a reservation. If you want to indulge your every desire, your best bet is the waterfront area, where you can find four- and five-star hotels offering all the modern amenities you need, including complimentary bicycles and car rental services.
