  • For the Brazilians, who have Grand carnivals, this museum is very poor. Worth knowing this aspect of Uruguayan culture, but if we compare to our Carnival "is a lot to be desired"; But I heard that in Uruguay the Carnival is one of the Uruguayan people's pride and the longest in the world, I think that lasts 1 month, not sure, The Museum's clothes are beautiful and folklore. Are also exposed parts made with recyclable materials i.e., magazine covers, hospital material and condoms. The shop is good and interesting objects relaciomados to theme markets. .

  • Since the cost of entry is expensive. As well as in other countries the input is discounted for the locals, it should have benefits for the Montevideo even every so often...

  • Location: next to the Mercado del Puerto, in the port area of Montevideo. Cost: $60 for URY residents of MERCOSUR (if you eat lunch at the restaurant in the background, the visit is free). ➕ Positives: ✔ quick tour (about 30-60 minutes). ✔ Subtitles in Spanish and English. ✔ History of Uruguayan Carnival-began as a way to challenge popular during the period of the dictatorship. ✔ Origin of murgas and tablaos-who continue to rely on popular participation. ✔ Rise of candombe-dance that had the influence of black slaves (the healer, the ' black ' mother and the star, as well as the importance of the drums). ➖ Negative points: ✔ might have an audio guide or a guided tour once or twice a day. ✔ lack of subtitles in Portuguese, since the number of Brazilian tourists in Uruguay is great. ✔ The store was in the process of Assembly. In practice what we see: ⚬ fantasies (decades), fantasies of earlier carnivals ⚬ ⚬, ' gran muñecas ' or cabezudos-remember the dolls of the Carnival of Olinda/PE, ⚬ ⚬ masks from other countries, stylized costumes (associating Carnival to the art of recycling) with boxes and bags of milk, condoms, magazine. For a place and like to know the local culture of truth, it's worth it.
